About the UBC Child Phonology Lab

The UBC Child Phonology Lab was established in January 2019 when Director Anne-Michelle Tessier (Ph.D. UMass Amherst, 2007, B.A. Honours, McGill University, 2001) arrived at UBC to take up a faculty position. Her long-standing research goals have been to combine the insights of constraint-based phonological theories with data, results and puzzles about the nature of phonological acquisition. The goal of this lab is to build a place where these two areas of linguistic research can proceed separately and together, among students and colleagues with as many different interests and skills as possible. Anyone interested in child language, phonological theory, and/or their intersection is most welcome.
